Commentary on news, politics, religion, and the economy...

John A. Hoyle, Blogmaster

John Hoyle was born and raised in Southern California, but now resides in central Oregon, within sight of the majestic Cascade mountain range.

John’s early professional life was spent working in technical management, first for a large utility company, and then later for a national electronics retail chain. He completely changed direction in 1997, spending the next few years working in the real estate lending industry.

Starting in the late 1980s, John became interested in computer technology. At one point, he managed several large production plants, overseeing the assembly of custom computer networks for school districts and government agencies. In the late 1990s, his interest shifted from computer hardware to database management and then to the expanding Internet. Since 2001, John has been a consultant, specializing in website design and Internet marketing services.

Politically, he has always been independent. His first vote was in 1968 for Robert F. Kennedy (who was assassinated the night of the California Primary), and then later for Richard Nixon. Disgusted with Nixon’s lack of ethics and his Watergate disgrace, Jimmy Carter got his vote in 1976. Carter was a disappointment in managing the economy and the Iran hostage crisis, so John became a Reagan Republican in 1980.

When President George H. W. Bush allowed himself to be talked into raising taxes after making his “read my lips – no new taxes” promise, John voted for Bill Clinton in 1992 and 1996. But Clinton’s morals and questionable ethics led John to vote for George W. Bush in 2000 – in spite of some serious reservations he had about Bush’s reputation.

John feels that the Bush Administration’s management of our government has been despicable.

John created JustOneOpinion.com in 2001, first as a simple web page that quickly evolved into a small blog. In 2007, the site was updated and expanded using advanced WordPress programming. In its current configuration, John’s goal is for it to become a forum for free expression for independent thinkers who are not a part of mainstream media. His hope is that with the expansion of the website and opening it up to additional contributors, that the original intent of the First Amendment will be restored.
