Obama’s Promises

President Obama is in so many ways a welcome improvement over his predecessor, George W. Bush. Obama is an attractive man who presents himself in an articulate, friendly, and yet determined manner, in every speech and at every venue.

Obviously the political leaders of Europe and Asia (OK, maybe not North Korea) all seem to feel more comfortable with Obama in office. Our president has become a worldwide celebrity instead being seen as a befuddled puppet of far-right evangelical neo-cons.President Obama

All of that is good for him and for America. However, here at home we are still waiting for President Obama to really start fulfilling his campaign promises. Few presidents before him have had the power to actually take the lead and implement many of the changes he promised Americans during his run for the highest office in our country. He is by default the most powerful man in the world. He also has these very important advantages going for him at this time:

  • Democrats are a majority and control both houses of Congress.
  • He has strong public support from Democrats, independents, and even some moderate Republicans.
  • His popularity index ranges from the high-40s to the low-70s in almost every poll and in just about every category.
  • He has many executive powers left over from his predecessor that would allow him to make changes in the military and other branches of government with just a stroke of his pen.

Instead of using the majority support and powers available to him, he seems to have become America’s number one procrastinator. The video below sums my feeling up very well. Enjoy…

And…………OBTW……Just where did the world get the impression that our former president was a “befuddled puppet of far right evangelical neo cons”??? From the American press….

Obama is a great orator but he has never stopped campaigning and that is one sof his major problems. He is not decisive and I am beginning to think he can’t or won’t make decisions of importance. He is relying too much on staff who have not demonstrated a lot of smarts and he is surrounding people of lesser value than himself.
A corporation would fail with this approach. I also think he is looked at by the world as a buffoon not a celebrity. It is too bad because he could do so much good and could steer the democrats in the right direction, a little more center Please!
